We investigate how different methods of diverting and capturing floodwater can enhance water availability in desert regions. By combining advanced water-flow simulations with reinforcement learning, we aim to identify the most cost-effective locations for small dams—sites that can retain maximum floodwater with minimal construction effort.

This project will integrate high-resolution hydrological modeling and AI-based optimization to pinpoint optimal dam placement and design, ultimately improving water use efficiency in drylands.
