FEW 2025 MBEYA conference - Dr. Alon Sela is presenting the group`s work on Global Food Networks, let by Dr. Ting Qing, showing the resilience to food shock in FEW 2025 MBEYA, Tanzania, Food Water and Energy Conference.
We show how East African countries strengthen their food network by self-production of corn – their main grain source. While this strategy protects form external shocks, it is sensitive to local African based shocks such as local Corn diseases.

We are happy to announce that we won the VATAT climate call for proposals – CLIM-NET with amazing partners from Bar Ilan university, Ben Gurion University and Weizmann Institute.
Our part in this distinguished group of researchers will be to study the complex interactions between vegetation and climate.

Our paper – Exposure to air pollutants contributes to increased rate of neovascular age-related macular degeneration in Israel, has been published in PLOS One. In this paper we show the clear, thugh non-linear relations between air polution and AMD – a degenerative eye disease causing blindness at old age.
